Cholos, Pachucos y Vatos

A scary thing happened to me yesterday as I was preparing to meditate about the Dalai Lama's recent statement on "Science at a Crossroads" and the implications this might have on monkeys worldwide. Just as I was settling into my meditation pillow, I looked behind me only to see Grub and Hairy dressed up as cholitos. Seems that they were being influenced by a new book, "Chato Goes Cruisin'" by Gary Soto. Ah, such is life with those hooligans. Did I mention that they were also trying to fashion a low-rider out of a laundry basket? So strange! Nonetheless, their interest in vatos prompted me to investigate this phenomena called, "Pachuquismos." Hmmm, must be their Fresno roots. The next thing you know, they'll be replacing their bandanas with Zoot Suits! Really, can you imagine that? Actually, I think it would be pretty funny. However, this aside from my mediatations allowed me to discover a new group that I think is worth listening to. They are Texas based ska band called, "Darth Vato." Maybe I can convince them to play at the next MLF convention...

By the way, what do you think of the rarely seen but often idolized, Super Sock Monkey supermonkey hero? Is he real or is he a hoax? I think his theme song maybe something like, "Ghost Monkeys in the Sky" or maybe it's The Monkey Song?
